Interim Accounting Technician (Schools Finance) - Local authority

London | Hybrid – 2 days on-site

Up to £400 per day | Inside IR35 Interim contract

A London local authority to recruit an Interim Accounting Technician to support its schools finance function.

This is a hands-on role supporting the day-to-day financial administration of the service, with a strong focus on journals, reconciliations, data management and spreadsheet-based analysis.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Processing and reviewing journals Completing balance sheet and other financial reconciliations
• Managing and maintaining schools finance data Supporting general finance administration
• Producing and maintaining spreadsheets, trackers and reports Investigating discrepancies and resolving data issues
• Supporting the wider finance team with ad hoc financial tasks

The successful candidate will have:

• Previous local government finance experience – essential
• Strong Excel and general IT skills Experience of journals, reconciliations and financial administration
• Good attention to detail and confidence working with large volumes of data
• The ability to work independently and manage competing deadlines
• Previous schools finance experience would be highly desirable
