Data Science Consultant (Energy & Utilities)
Location: London / Hybrid (Minimum 3 days/week on site)

Are you an experienced Data Science professional looking to solve complex, real-world problems for critical national infrastructure?
We are partnering with a world leading management and technology consultancy to find a Data Science Consultant with a strong focus on the Energy & Utilities sectors.
In this role, you will apply advanced analytics, machine learning, and mathematical modeling to help major energy providers, utility networks, and public sector organizations drive evidence based decision making. You will work within an agile, cross-disciplinary environment alongside software engineers, industry strategists, and domain experts.
Key Responsibilities
End-to-End Modeling: Lead and deliver solutions across the full analytics lifecyclefrom problem formulation and exploratory data analysis to model design, testing, and deployment.
Sector-Focused Problem Solving: Apply advanced analytics, OR models, and machine learning to address critical challenges across energy, utilities, and sustainability.
Client Translation: Translate complex business requirements into analytical solutions, effectively communicating technical methodologies and findings to senior non-technical stakeholders.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work within agile teams using live whiteboarding and collaborative problem-solving to build high-performance data products.
What We're Looking For
Academic Background: Degree, Master's, or PhD in Data Science, Mathematics, Operational Research, Physics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
Core Technical Stack: Hands-on proficiency with Python, SQL, and Excel, alongside exposure to platforms like Databricks, PySpark, Palantir Foundry, or R.
Specialized Experience: Proven track record in delivering advanced analytics, algorithm design, operational research, or big data engineering solutions.
Energy & Utilities Affinity: Direct experience or a deep interest in applying analytical frameworks to energy networks, utility operations, and environmental infrastructure.
Requirements & Security Clearance
Due to the nature of client assignments (including public sector and critical national infrastructure), candidates must meet UK security vetting prerequisites:
Must hold British Citizenship OR have been a continuous resident in the UK for at least the past 5 years.
