Fire Safety Manager - #2152933

Local authority in London are looking for a fire safety manager for an initial period of up to 12 months.

Purpose of the role:

Individual required to oversee the fire safety contract and compliance for the portfolio of residential homes under direct and indirect management of the Council. The council engages an external contractor to manage an on-going cycle of FRAs across the portfolio, the primary aim of this role is to ensure that all actions arising from these assessments are tracked and completed. The individual will be required to prioritise works based on risk category whilst also balancing cost considerations.

As well as external relationships the Contract & Compliance Manager will lead on building and maintaining internal relationships with other departments within the council, such as the Planned Works team who are responsible for different remedial works.

External contracts include the Council’s FRA contractor and 2 fire remedial works contractors as well as an Asbestos contractor. The Manager will, from time to time, be responsible for assessing the quality of the work delivered by contractors, employing the necessary diplomatic means to challenge poor or undelivered works whilst maintaining the relationship. This post will also represent the Council in other relationships with external partner organisations, such as the London Fire Brigade,

The suitable candidate will have demonstrable experience in managing and delivering effective contracts, ensuring all works are delivered to a high standard and within budgets. If is essential they have extensive knowledge of all aspects of fire safety as relates to residential properties; they will likely come from another local authority or housing association background.
