Application Support Engineer (eTrading Production Support)

Location: London

Working Pattern: 50% office-based (initially 100% onsite until fully up to speed)

Contract Length: 6 Months (inside IR35)

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Application Support Engineer to join a high-performing eTrading Production Support team within a global financial markets environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day production support activities, ensuring maximum platform availability and stability.
• Monitor, troubleshoot and resolve incidents across business-critical eTrading platforms.
• Perform root cause analysis and drive permanent fixes for recurring issues.
• Support and maintain Windows and Linux-based application environments.

Required Skills & Experience

Production Support

• Extensive experience supporting business-critical production applications.
• Experience operating within a 2nd/3rd line application support or production support environment.
• Strong incident management and problem-solving capabilities.
• Proven ability to manage issues through to resolution while communicating effectively with stakeholders.

Operating Systems

• Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting experience.
• Strong Windows Server support experience.
• Experience analysing:
  • CPU utilisation
  • Memory consumption
  • Storage performance
  • Network and NIC metrics
  • Operating system performance data

Key Skills:

• Networking - TCP/IP, DNS, VLANs, VPN/Stunnel, Connectivity
• Monitoring/Obs - Splunk, Geneos, Grafana, Dynatrace
• DevOps - Jenkins, Git, Bitbucket, Artifactory,
• Databases - Oracle, SQL Server
• Scripting - Bash, PowerShell, Python
• ITSM Tools - ServiceNow, Jira
• Markets - ION
• OS metrics - linux/windows
• App metrics - java/.NET
