Head of Technical Architecture - AI - #2168510

A government organisation is recruiting for a Head of Technical Architecture AI to lead the technical work across the whole of an AI programme.

Day to day duties:

• Lead the Architects within the programme, being the head of the line management tree and reporting to the Head of Technical Architecture for Personalisation.
• Be responsible for designing and driving the technical strategy for our AI digital products within the Product and Services directorate
• Take ownership of the architectural strategy for products and services, including languages, frameworks, integration, CI/CD, hosting, and monitoring
• Set and drive the technical plan for our AI products
• Make the key technology choices: languages, frameworks, hosting, monitoring and release pipelines (CI/CD)
• Explain technical ideas clearly to technical and non-technical people
• Work with security experts and other government bodies to agree technical standards
• Review technical roadmaps and spot opportunities and risks early
• Help shape how technical decisions get made, and when
• Grow the architecture community through training, hiring and career development

Key skills:

• AI user facing product experience
• Experience designing and launching the architecture for AI-powered digital products
• A strong focus on users and on building services that meet their needs
• Strong software development and application architecture skills
• Good knowledge of cloud, open-source tools and testing
• Hands-on knowledge of modern serverless technology, from front-end code down to infrastructure
• Experience with agile ways of working, including test-driven development (TDD), continuous delivery and DevOps
• Good knowledge of cloud security, including threat modelling
• Experience leading high-performing, inclusive technical teams
• Confidence managing and challenging senior stakeholders
• Experience setting technical strategy, standards and governance
