As an Accountant, will actively participate in all stages of the Council's financial cycle, including budget preparation, monitoring, forecasting, year-end accounts closure, and statutory reporting. They will ensure compliance with relevant regulations and de liver timely, accurate financial information.

Description

• To provide support to managers /budget holders to help identify savings or improvements, which may include the modelling of savings and growth proposals for inclusion in the Medium Term Financial Strategy , and enable them with skills to ensure they are able to undertake financial ownership of all aspects of their service.
• To promote budget holder housekeeping of budgets recorded on the general ledger, presenting them in the way that best reflects expected activity levels and the need for completing statistical returns.
• To assist and review in effective quality control and compliance checks of budget monitoring including reviews of timeliness and quality of forecasts shared by budget holders. Proactively identify posting errors and propose on-going remedial action that material issues are identified, and financial risks are reported and escalated as appropriate .
• To produce timely, accurate information for statutory returns, grant claims, taxation returns, relevant FOI requests and other requests for financial information.
• To provide reliable financial information and good quality analysis (including comparative information, trend and variance analysis) to support decision making) including Contributing to the preparation of financial reports for members and senior officers.
• To review the Council's financial balances, transactions or budget monitoring including reviews of timeliness and quality of forecasts entered by budget holders.

Profile

A successful 'Accountant' will have:

• Experience of preparing and maintaining accurate financial records.
• Ability to process accounting entries and review financial data carefully.
• Experience of account reconciliations and resolving discrepancies.
• Confidence in preparing clear financial reports.
• Strong attention to detail when handling financial information.
• Ability to keep financial documentation organised and up to date.

Job Offer

• Temporary Accountant contract based in London.
• Daily pay of £350
