Financial Controller - #2174485

Global Gaming Content and Technology Organisation seeks an Interim Financial Controller to join their business on an initial 6-month assignment. The Financial Controller would provide immediate senior-level oversight and control across the finance environment. The successful candidate would be an experienced finance professional with a background in Gaming or Tech environment.

The role will initially be diagnostic and hands-on. The Financial Controller will get underneath the numbers and processes, understand where issues are occurring and put appropriate financial discipline around the operation.

Responsibilities of the Financial Controller include:

• Take senior oversight of financial accounting and month-end activities across the business.
• Quickly assess the current finance environment and identify gaps in process, ownership, controls and data quality.
• Perform detailed balance sheet reviews and understand the underlying composition and movement of material balances.
• Review reconciliations and challenge aged, unsupported, unusual or unexplained items.
• Review GL activity and trace accounting issues back through journals, source data and supporting documentation.
• Investigate recurring accounting and reporting issues and identify root causes rather than simply correcting the output.
• Provide senior review over accruals, provisions, revenue, cost recognition, intercompany and other judgmental accounting areas.
• Establish clear issue logs, ownership and remediation actions.
• Bring structure and discipline to month-end close, including clear review points and escalation.
• Work closely with operational accountants and analysts while providing senior review and direction.
• Translate complex accounting issues into concise conclusions and recommendations for finance leadership.
• Support the transition towards the longer-term finance operating model.

Requirements for the Financial Controller include:

• ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified, ideally with strong financial accounting foundations.
• Exposure to a gaming or tech environment
• Experienced Financial Controller, Senior Finance Manager or equivalent.
• Strong multinational / multi-entity accounting background.
• Excellent balance sheet and reconciliation skills.
• Strong IFRS knowledge.
• Naturally investigative, able to follow an issue through journals, reconciliations and underlying data.
• Comfortable being hands-on rather than sitting above the detail.
• Strong Excel/data analysis capability.
• D365 experience highly desirable.
• Experience with finance transformation, remediation or post-ERP implementation environments would be particularly useful.
