REQ4963

We’re at a big turning point at SGN.

The world is changing fast — expectations from customers, communities, regulators and our stakeholders are rising. Technology is moving quicker than ever. We need to catch up and then stay ahead if we want to be the best GDN in the UK. We need to make sure we’re set up for success. We’re already making great progress with a new CEO and Executive Team, a new COO function and we’ve just moved from five to nine regions in our Southern network, creating closer communities for our people. We’ve opened a Business Services Centre, giving everyone easier access to the services they need, and we’ve brought in 550 new vans, with hundreds more on the way.

But this is just the beginning. We’re focusing on three big goals:

  • Supporting our frontline first
  • Cutting waste, not corners
  • Working smarter, together

We’ve already started work on a five-year programme that will help us achieve our goals, and our journey will continue over the next 3-4 years.

We’re now offering fantastic opportunities for colleagues to help us on this exciting journey.

The FSP / BPR Project Support role is responsible for supporting the effective delivery of the Field Services Platform (FSP) and Business Process Review (BPR). Working closely with Programme and Initiative Leads, the role ensures delivery activities are tracked and governed effectively, enabling progress against time, cost, and quality objectives.

We deliver safety, warmth, and comfort to homes and businesses. Every role, whether in the office or on the front line, plays a key part in this mission. Here’s how you will contribute…

Your Role and Impact

As a key member of our programme delivery team, you will:

  • Collaborate with the Programme Manager and Initiative Lead to ensure successful delivery of programme outcomes within defined timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Help develop, maintain, and manage detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets to keep all workstreams aligned and on track.
  • Monitor progress across projects, identifying and helping to resolve any issues that may affect delivery.
  • Assist in identifying, documenting, and tracking project risks, issues, and dependencies, escalating them promptly for resolution.
  • Support the preparation of project reports, dashboards, and status updates to aid effective governance and informed decision-making.
  • Organise and help facilitate project meetings and workshops to maintain momentum and engagement.

What You’ll Bring

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a knack for interpreting complex project data.
  • Familiarity with project and programme management frameworks such as PRINCE2, MSP, or Agile (preferred but not required).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to coordinate across teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Great attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
  • Experience supporting large-scale transformation or process improvement initiatives is a plus.

Not sure you meet every requirement?

Research shows some people – particularly women and those from underrepresented backgrounds – may hesitate to apply unless they meet every criteria. At SGN, we value diverse backgrounds, experiences and perspectives.

If this role interests you but you’re not sure you tick every box, we’d still love to hear from you. You might be just who we’re looking for – now or in the future.

Why SGN?

SGN is a leader in pioneering research and development toward a net-zero energy system. Our cutting-edge technologies and innovative thinking are driving change in the gas industry, all while keeping people safe and warm.
