This is an opportunity to join a highly regarded and genuinely specialist team at the Manager level, with real scope to develop your own portfolio, deepen your social housing expertise, and progress within a firm that actively invests in its people.
The role can be based in London, the Midlands, or Manchester, and flexible or part-time working arrangements are a possibility for the right candidate.
What you'll be doing- Manage a portfolio of external audit clients across the social housing and wider social purpose sector, delivering a proactive, year-round service and building strong, lasting client relationships
- Lead multiple audit teams simultaneously, ensuring work is planned and completed within agreed budgets and timescales from planning through to completion
- Serve as the principal point of contact for your clients throughout the year, taking ownership of service delivery and relationship management
- Prepare and present reports to senior management, Audit Committees, and Boards
- Direct, coach, and mentor audit team members to support them in the effective delivery of engagements
- Time-plan your own workload and client engagements, managing competing priorities in an organised and professional manner
- Play an active role in business development, maintaining and growing your professional network and contributing to proposals and presentations for new work
- Explore opportunities to provide wider assurance services to clients where appropriate
- Participate in team-wide and firm-wide activities, training, and knowledge-sharing initiatives
- Have the flexibility to develop expertise and portfolio interests beyond social housing, in areas that align with your professional interests
- Qualified ACA, ACCA, or ICAS (or equivalent)
- Strong technical knowledge of auditing and accounting standards
- Proven ability to manage audit engagements from planning through to completion, on time and within budget
- Confident people management skills, with experience coaching, mentoring, and supporting junior colleagues
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage credibly with senior stakeholders including Boards and Audit Committees
- Well-organised, with the ability to manage multiple assignments and competing deadlines
- A proactive approach to business development and relationship management
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Knowledge and experience of auditing in the not-for-profit, charity, or social housing sector
- Familiarity with the Housing SORP or Charities SORP
- Existing relationships or a network within the social purpose sector
