Start Date: ASAP

Fractional / Ad Hoc Contract | Inside IR35 | £600–£700 per day

Duration: 6 Months

Location: London | Office-Based

We’re partnering with a growing insurance organisation to appoint an experienced Fractional Internal Auditor for an initial six-month engagement.

Operating across three established brands, the organisation is preparing for a programme of audits scheduled over the next six to nine months. Working on a flexible, ad hoc basis, you’ll help strengthen audit readiness across the group by reviewing existing controls, identifying potential gaps and supporting the implementation of any necessary improvements.

The Opportunity

As Fractional Internal Auditor, you’ll provide independent, practical assurance across the organisation’s internal controls, processes and documentation.

Working closely with stakeholders across Finance, Risk, Compliance and Operations, you’ll assess current arrangements, identify areas of exposure and ensure each brand has the appropriate evidence, documentation and controls in place ahead of its audit.

This is a hands-on engagement suited to someone who can quickly understand a complex, multi-brand environment and translate audit findings into clear, commercially sensible recommendations.

Key Responsibilities

You’ll play a key role in supporting audit readiness across the organisation by:

  • Reviewing existing internal controls, processes and supporting documentation across three brands.
  • Assessing the effectiveness of current controls and governance arrangements.
  • Identifying control gaps, operational risks and areas requiring improvement ahead of external or regulatory audits.
  • Ensuring appropriate audit evidence and documentation is complete, accurate and readily available.
  • Providing clear, practical recommendations to address identified issues.
  • Supporting the implementation and monitoring of required remediation activity.
  • Working collaboratively with stakeholders across Finance, Risk, Compliance and Operations.
  • Providing flexible, ongoing support as each brand progresses through its respective audit timetable.
  • Communicating findings clearly to senior stakeholders and providing visibility of audit-readiness progress.

About You

You’ll be an experienced Internal Auditor with a strong understanding of risk, controls and governance within a regulated environment.

You will also have:

  • Strong Internal Audit experience, ideally gained within insurance or wider financial services.
  • A solid understanding of regulated environments, governance frameworks and internal control principles.
  • Previous experience preparing organisations for external or regulatory audits.
  • The ability to assess processes and documentation quickly, identifying material risks and control weaknesses.
  • Experience developing practical remediation recommendations and supporting their implementation.
  • Strong stakeholder-management skills, with the confidence to engage across operational and senior leadership teams.
  • A commercially aware and pragmatic approach to risk and compliance.
  • The ability to work independently and deliver effectively on a fractional or ad hoc basis.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
  • The ability to work office-based in London, W2.

Why Apply?

This is an excellent opportunity to make an immediate impact within a growing, multi-brand insurance organisation as it prepares for a significant programme of audit activity.

In return, you’ll benefit from:

  • A competitive day rate of £600–£700.
  • An initial six-month engagement.
  • A flexible, fractional working arrangement.
  • The opportunity to influence audit readiness across three established brands.
  • Direct exposure to key stakeholders across Finance, Risk, Compliance and Operations.
  • A high-impact assignment within a complex, regulated environment.
